DIR-MEXICO: GUE Cave 1 Training in France

DIR-Fundamentals 2003 - Ibiza, Spain

In May 2003, the first GUE course in Spain took place on the beautiful island of Ibiza.  A total of nine divers from different backgrounds participated in the two DIR Fundamentals courses organized by BUEX (www.buex.org).  Participants were fascinated by the material presented and continue to practice the philosophy presented during this course. Based on this introduction, several GUE courses took place in Spain in the following months.

DIR Fundamentals 2004 - Madrid, Spain

The second series of courses took place in February in Madrid.  In this location one DIR Fundamentals course was organized with six participants.  Because of its land locked location, we had to travel to a nearby lake (Ruidera) to put our skills into practice.  The silty conditions at the bottom gave an instant feedback on trim and propulsion.  Due to slippery conditions on the road to get there, a traffic accident took place with one of the participants, but this didn't stop him from finishing the course.  He left his car with a note for the tow truck and took off with the rest of the class!

DIR Fundamentals 2004 - Gernika, Spain

In January and February of 2004, several GUE DIR Fundamental courses were organized in different parts of Spain.  The first series of courses started in Gernika.  In this location three back to back courses were organized totaling 12 participants from a wide range of diving backgrounds.  We were very lucky with good weather was on our side.  It remained sunny during most of the courses, which is rare for this time of year.  Good attitudes, combined with right motivation lead to three very interesting courses in which all participants learned a lot and had a good time.  The good food of this area, along with breath taking scenery, complimented nicely the location.
